Anxiety NZ - empowering people and whānau living with anxiety and mental health experiences since 1980.
Our mission is all about boosting the mental health and wellbeing of people across Aotearoa New Zealand. We’re here to support, educate, and offer treatment for kids, young people, adults, and whānau who are living with anxiety and other mental health experiences.

We are always on the lookout for skilled and passionate psychologists, clinicians, and mental health professionals to join our team. We offer flexibility in your schedule and work location. Our clinic is based out of St Lukes, Auckland, but we also offer online therapy and counselling appointments anywhere in New Zealand using Teams video calls.
You will join a diverse clinical team, with opportunities for peer connection, shared learning and contribution to a wider mental health organisation.
Our team includes psychologists, intern psychologists, counsellors, peer support workers, helpline workers, volunteers, lived-experience leadership and administrative staff. This creates a supportive and learning-focused environment where clinical work sits alongside peer support, helpline support, community education, training and charitable services.
You will have the opportunity to be part of an organisation where clinical care is strengthened by connection, shared purpose and a broader understanding of community mental health needs.
Support you will value
As part of the Anxiety NZ clinical team, you will have access to:
A warm, respectful and supportive team culture
Weekly online clinical team meeting option, monthly in-person option including a shared lunch, both with an allowance for attendance
Connection with clinical peers and opportunities for shared learning
Friendly and capable administration support
A triage and screening team that supports service entry for new clients before their first psychology session
Referral, booking support and account management support
Free on-site parking at our St Lukes clinic
A mix of in-person and online work options
Opportunities to contribute to a charitable organisation with wider community impact
A learning-focused environment that includes intern psychologist placements, clinical supervisors and workforce development
Connection to wider Anxiety NZ services, including peer support groups, helpline support, education and community initiatives
These roles offer the benefit of being part of a wider clinical and community mental health organisation, while still allowing flexibility and professional autonomy as a contractor.
Why join us?
This is an opportunity to be part of an organisation where clinical work is connected to a broader purpose.
You will join a team that values psychological knowledge, reflective practice, cultural responsiveness, peer learning, supportive relationships and practical care for clients. Our psychologists are supported by a wider team that includes other clinicians, interns, peer facilitators, helpline workers, volunteers and administrative staff.
If you are looking for more than isolated private practice work, this role offers connection, collegiality, meaningful client work and the chance to contribute to a trusted mental health charity with a long history in Aotearoa New Zealand.
What you will bring
You will have:
Registration as a Psychologist with the New Zealand Psychologists Board
A current Annual Practising Certificate
Scope of practice as a clinical, counselling, health, or general psychologist
Experience providing psychological assessment and therapy
Confidence using evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT-informed, FACT, mindfulness-based, exposure-based, trauma-informed, strengths-based or other relevant therapeutic models
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A respectful, ethical and culturally responsive approach
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a wider clinical team
Interest in contributing to a supportive, values-led organisation
Experience with anxiety presentations, OCD, child and youth work, ADHD assessment or support, group work, family/whānau-inclusive practice, or brief intervention models would be valuable, but all are not essential.
