Charley is a Registered Intern Psychologist with a background in health and behaviour change. She supports people experiencing anxiety and other related mental health challenges, understanding that these difficulties can affect thoughts, emotions, physical wellbeing, relationships, and everyday life. Charley aims to create a safe, compassionate space where people feel understood and supported to move toward meaningful change.
Her approach is collaborative, practical, and strengths-based. She draws on evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Charley works alongside people to better understand what they are experiencing, develop helpful skills, and build confidence in managing anxiety and life challenges.
Charley has a particular interest in health psychology and the relationship between mental and physical health. Anxiety often interacts closely with the body, and physical health conditions can both influence and be influenced by emotional wellbeing. She is confident supporting people to navigate this connection, whether they are experiencing panic symptoms, health anxiety, stress-related physical symptoms, menopause-related changes, or adjusting to long-term health conditions or medical experiences. Charley helps people understand how mind and body responses work together and supports the development of practical strategies that improve both wellbeing and day-to-day functioning.
Charley takes a whānau-centred approach and recognises the important role that family and support people can play in wellbeing. She is happy to include whānau or trusted supports in sessions where this feels helpful and desired. She aims to practise in a culturally respectful and inclusive way and warmly welcomes people from all backgrounds and identities. She is a rainbow ally and committed to creating an affirming environment where people feel safe to be themselves.
She hopes that through working together, people feel more confident, more connected to what matters to them, and more able to live fulfilling lives alongside anxiety.
