Tania Nilsen
Intern Counsellor
Tania is passionate about community mental health and in her work aims to build pathways for whaiora that are collaborative and centred around holistic wellbeing and whānau health.

Tania has worked as the Triage Lead at Anxiety NZ and is a currently a Peer Support Group Facilitator and Intern Counsellor. She has been active in mental health Community Engagement and is passionate about connecting with services to make accessing supports more effective for people in need.  

Tania has a Bachelor of Applied Science in Psychology and is currently completing a Bachelor of Applied Counselling.  Tania is completing her practicum at Anxiety NZ and will be consulting on Saturdays.  

Tania is also a Behaviour Specialist for Explore Hāpainga Ora, undertaking Functional Assessments and implementing Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) plans.  

Tania combines her knowledge and experience in working with both children and adults in mental health, brain injury, Autism and ID. Tania uses a pluralistic approach in counselling, aiming to provide collaborative informed individualised support to each client.  Tania works from a multiple modality approach; incorporating narrative therapy, PBS, and creative and expressive approaches, in a way that enables a person to be heard, address the functions of their behaviours, and explore strategies that enable a person to achieve their wellness goals.
